We had Dreams and Song to Sing is a book born out of a once in a lifetime trip to Istanbul. Follow one man's journey bound by his passion for Liverpool Footbal Club and see how his lifelong love affair with the Mighty Reds has woven into the pattern of his life. Watch the Hillsborough and Heysel disasters unfold in front of his very eyes, and see how Istanbul heralds an end to his old life and a start to his new life.
The journey takes in the football fields of Europe and a brief sojourn into the professional game. Written by Keith Salmon, We had Dreams and Song to Sing, is a true story that mirrors that of thousands of normal football fans. There is a piece of every one of you in his story!
Keith Salmon lives in the Isle of Man with his wife Nikki and his son Charlie. Born in Liverpool in 1965, just after Liverpool's first FA Cup win, the smell of silver polish has never been far away whilst following his football team - Liverpool FC. His passion is as strong as ever and the love he has for his team and his city shines through. Football has defined his path in life and afforded him many wonderful opportunities to travel and meet people from all walks of life.
"Rarely has a book shown how interwoven football is into the fabric of everyday life. A superb illustration of why the game matters and why it's important not to surrender the sport to the profiteers and corporate con men. We had dreams and songs to sing shows that football still matters and, more importantly, it shows why it matters!"
Tony Evans Football Editor The Times
"You don't have to be a Liverpool to enjoy the book, just a lover of football."
Steve Day, Brighton
"It was great I couldn't put it down, I could relate to it all"
Tony Fields Liverpool
"It was ace! just like being in the pub and being told the story by your mate."
Paul Moore Isle of Man
