Description

This is the official DVD review of the 2008 Ryder Cup from Valhalla. All the highlights and excitement from the 37th Ryder Cup are featured on this DVD as USA, on home soil, were bidding to regain the Samuel Ryder last won in 1999 at Brookline. The Europeans were in a confident mood, however, having won the Ryder Cup on the three most recent occasions in 2002 at The Belfry, 2004 at Oakland Hills, and 2006 at the K Club.

After three consecutive European victories the American team, captained by Paul Azinger, was highly motivated and desperate to win on home soil. And right from the start it was clear that the Americans would be hard to beat. With, in particular, excellent approach play and deadly accurate putting, the USA team led 9-7 going into the final day. It was still very close…

The high standards set by the Americans continued into the third day and when Jim Furyk beat Miguel Angel Jiménez on the 18th it was sufficient to see USA regain the Ryder Cup. It was a thoroughly deserved win, by 16.5 to 11.5, and all eyes are now on Celtic Manor in 2010.

The European team, captained by Nick Faldo, were:

Paul Casey (England)
Sergio Garcia (Spain)
Soren Hansen (Denmark)
Podraig Harrington (Ireland)
Miguel Angel Jimenez (Spain)
Robert Karlssn (Sweden)
Graeme McDowell (Northern Ireland)
Ian Poulter (England)
Justin Rose (England)
Henrik Stenson (Sweden)
Lee Westwood (England)
Oliver Wilson (England)
